What are my child’s strengths and interests?
BOaktiv is a process that allows your child to discover their strengths, abilities and interests. The process helps your child to think about themselves and develop important skills for their career. Many comprehensive and vocational schools in Baden-Württemberg use BOaktiv.
Your child often knows:
“I’m good at sport.”
“I got a 3 in German.”
“I got a 4- in maths.”
What your child often does not know:
“How much of a team player am I?”
“How good am I at solving problems?”
“How skilful am I when it comes to using tools?"
BOaktiv shows your child what they are good at.
Your child needs certain skills to be able to do well at work and in society in the future. BOaktiv helps to develop those skills.

Your child first needs to know what they are good at and what they enjoy. Only then can they decide on the career that they would like to try out.
BOaktiv helps to visualise your child’s strengths and abilities and thus supports them in their career orientation.
With the skills analysis, teachers can work with you and your child to find out what strengths they have and what their next steps should be.
It is also important to find out what career interests your child has. This will allow your child to choose an apprenticeship, a degree programme or another educational pathway that really suits them.
BOaktiv in detail
The process
BOaktiv creates a specific skills analysis for your child. The results are based on observation tasks, simulation games and tests, among other things. Then your child, their teacher and you as a parent or guardian discuss the results of the skills analysis (reflection) and the next steps to take. The aim is to find development tasks that are exactly right for your child and can be worked on at school or at home. There are also tasks that you and your child can do together. Skills analysis, reflection and support create an integrated, spiral-shaped process.

Skills
With the results of the BOaktiv skills analysis, it is possible to draw specific conclusions about your child’s career-related transferable competences and interests.
